About Lighthouse

Lighthouse is a Christian community in Worsley Mesnes, Wigan. We normally gather a few times a week to eat together, pray together, and get fed together.

Lighthouse is part of Church Wigan, which is the Church of England in Wigan and is in the Diocese of Livepool.

Who we are

Lighthouse is made up of people who either live in Worsley Mesnes or who have a connection with one of the schools there. We are a church group but we don't expect you to be a Christian to be involved, and not everybody who is part of Lighthouse would call themselves a Christian.

Jes Rusling and Sam Rusling have been commissioned as Lighthouse leaders by Liverpool Diocese and are part of the leadership team. Our leaders have been safer recruited, which means they have had a DBS and we have taken references for them.

What we do

We gather as Lighthouse regularly, and this usually involves food. The reason we gather is to be community, and to follow Jesus. We do this by spending time with each other, by praying together and for each other, by learning about God and what He has to tell us, by singing together, and by eating together.

How we gather changes regularly. The best way to find out is via our private Facecbook group. If you'd like to come along please head to our Facebook page and ask if you can join the group.

Lighthouse also helps wherever we can. We were active during lockdown providing food and household items to families who needed it, we ran errands for people who were housebound, and helped St James' Primary School with delivering free school meals, education packs, and more. We have also started growing food on the estate and are working with Wigan Council to secure a plot of land for this.
